In Loving Memory of Ulysses Lee "Butch" Cribbs Jr.
Ulysses Lee Cribbs Jr. was born June 30th, 1945 to the late Ulesses Lee Sr. and Alice Mae Cribbs, at University Hospital in Omaha, NE. He was raised in a rich culture of community and love in South Omaha. He enjoyed fishing, sports, and various adventures with many friends. He liked participating in activities at the Woodson Center.
Ulysses graduated from Omaha Central High School in 1963. While attending high school, he was awarded a State Honor for reciting a poem "The Creation" by James Weldon Johnson. Throughout the years he was an avid lover of poetry. He excelled in basketball and football at Omaha Central and the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
In 1965 Ulysses enlisted voluntarily in the U.S. Airforce. He served his country during the Vietnam War era as a Military Policeman (MP). Unfortunately, due to the tragic circumstances of war, Butch suffered from the effects mentally and physically his entire life.
Butch accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Mount Olive Baptist Church at a young age.
Ulysses Lee Cribbs Jr., father, son, uncle, nephew, and friend departed his life on Friday, July 2nd, 2021. Preceding him in death was his sister, Darlene Ann Hart. Cherishing his memory are son, Antion Kern; sisters: Kathleen P. Greer, Gloria J. Harmon, Joyce M. Davis; and grandchildren. Plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends to celebrate his homegoing.
Visitation 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 12, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Graveside service 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Omaha National Cemetery with Military Honors.
