A Familiar Way to Gather and Grieve
Families have been placing their trust in us for generations. Outstanding service is our #1 priority and we are honored to serve you.
Traditional burial services are what many people think of when you mention the word funeral. The casket with the loved one is present, allowing family and friends to pay their respects, share in their grief and begin to find closure.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home offers full-service support and services. So, you’re able to meet with your funeral director to select a casket and related items, a monument, memorial or plaque for the final resting place, and even the final resting place for the interment or burial. In addition, you’re able to make arrangements for various types of services. These are often most important aspects of a funeral.
Visitation, Viewing or Wake
Held the evening before the funeral at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, this gathering is typically less formal than the funeral, with family, friends and guests arriving throughout the event to pay respects to the loved one and express condolences to the family. Sometimes family members will speak about the loved one and invite others to share their memories. Sometimes there is a religious element to the evening with guests joining in prayer, led by a celebrant or religious clergy member.
Memorial Service or Celebration of Life
This service is a final and unique tribute to the deceased. It can take place in a place of worship or in one of the chapels or gathering rooms at Forest Lawn. This can be determined by religious or family customs. The memorial service can be as traditional, personal or elaborate as the family wishes. Following this service, the casket is typically put to rest – either in the ground at Forest Lawn Cemetery or above ground in a crypt or mausoleum at Forest Lawn.
Graveside Ceremony
This service can be limited to family or open to all who attend the funeral. It takes place at the gravesite or mausoleum, with final thoughts and prayers before the casket is lowered into the ground or placed in a mausoleum crypt, niche or family estate.
Reception
Many families conclude the funeral services with a reception at Forest Lawn. The gathering typically centers around sharing a meal, inviting everyone from the funeral to be together and visit. Forest Lawn Funeral Home offers an area where food can be staged and served to guests by caterers or others.
