Our Location is Easy to Get to
Easily accessible from the interstate, Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Cemetery and Mausoleum is sometimes referred to as one of Omaha’s best kept secrets. Located a few blocks south of the 48th Street Exit, you’re immediately transported to our park-like setting amid 349 acres of rolling hills and trees. Lot Owner-Owned, Locally Operated, Nonprofit Cemetery
Forest Lawn began in 1885 when a group of local business and community leaders came together to establish a cemetery for area families. There are many ways Forest Lawn sets itself apart. As a nonprofit, we’re different from many cemeteries. We’re also lot owner-owned. And in an age of national and regional ownership groups, Forest Lawn is operated under the guidance of our Board of Trustees, which includes members from throughout the community, and ensures decisions are made locally, in the best interests of the people we serve.
Part of the Community
From its earliest days, Forest Lawn has been a welcoming place for our community. At one time, street cars brought families here for Sunday picnics and outings to enjoy the beautiful landscape. Today, you’ll not only find people visiting the final resting place of loved ones, pursuing family genealogy, walking their dogs and enjoying many of the community events such as our annual Memorial Day event, bird watching, car shows, history tours, and even tranquil walks with pets.
