Our Cemetery

One of the most beautiful cemeteries

Forest Lawn’s 349 acres annually ranks as one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the country and the largest in the Midwest.

Open since 1885, over the years, the beautiful cemetery has been maintained by the perpetual care fund, financed through the receipts of lot sales. The cemetery was developed on the park plan, which has ensured the sweep of velvety lawns and smooth, well-kept appearance. Wide, hard-surfaced roads, with rolling hills, wind through the forest providing easy access to all gravesites.

There are four Nebraska State Champion Trees with just about every tree that can grow in our Northeast zone within our Arboretum.

Our memorial art is some of the most impressive in the nation, and the cemetery’s Historical Chapel is a work of art with a granite exterior, roof, mosaic tiles, stained glass windows and a columbarium in the lower level.

Forest Lawn is the only cemetery in the midwest that is a Arboretum and a Bird Sanctuary. Forest Lawn has its own on site crematory.

Forest Lawn Cemetery is a Nebraska landmark, with a history intertwined with that of our proud state. As a not-for-profit institution, Forest Lawn Cemetery is dedicated to Omaha residents. Our tax status allows us to reinvest in the maintenance of our beautiful grounds and architecture for the benefit of the community we serve. It also allows us the opportunity to build the cities newest funeral home, offering features simply not available at most funeral homes with very competitive pricing.
